Ginger Bread

Met Life 1917

This is from an old Met Life cookbook dated 1917.  Some of these old recipes are fun to try.


1 C sour milk

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 C molasses

2 1/2 C flour

2 tbs melted butter (I use coconut oil)

2 tsp ginger1 tsp salt


Mix soda with sour milk and add molasses  Sift together flour, ginger and salt and combine with milk misture and then add molasses.  Bake in greased in 350 degree oven for 25 min.
