Accomplishing another year of marriage is no small task and it should be treated as such. Make sure that each year that you spend together, you do something special on your anniversary to mark the occasion. The magnitude of the gesture is entirely up to you. As a couple you can choose to do something small or something on a larger scale. All you really need to do is to make sure that it is special and meaningful. In case you are stuck for ideas, here are some thoughts that you can take and make your own:

Recreating a Special Moment
Think of some of the special moments that you shared together before you got married. Pick one that really stands out and perhaps recreate it each year. Take a picture of it and make sure that you get custom frames for it. Make sure that you do this each year and put it up on the wall. The significance? Not only do you get to see where it all started but you also get to see how the two of you have progressed with each year. You may look a little older, perhaps a little grayer but the love for one another has not changed at all. Perhaps, except to grow a little stronger with each passing year.
Your First Date
Though it may have dimmed over time, when you think about it, that first date was pretty special. It set into motion, the events leading up to your marriage. This is why it is a good idea to go to that same place and order the same meal or do the same activity. If you live far away from that original place, make sure to visit it on an important anniversary. Wait until your tenth or twentieth to go visit that place that set the spark that ignited the flame.
If you and your spouse are all about looking to the future and are full of adventure then perhaps memory lane is not for you. Instead, opt for something that is daring and exciting. Plan something fun to do on each anniversary. Perhaps you can make a pact with your husband or wife to never do the same thing twice. This will keep you on your toes and will ensure that you are always on the lookout for something novel and interesting. That is definitely one way to keep the marriage alive.
Forget About the World
This day is yours and so it should be spent with one another. Make an effort to take the day off and just spend time with one another. This means forgetting about everyone else for a single day. Inform friends, family, and even work of your plan to be together and ask them to leave you alone. Give yourselves time to rediscover one another and reflect on the life that you have built together. Though you may not realize it, the world may intrude on your lives a lot more than you think. This time together will certainly prove it.
These are just a few ideas. You are only limited by your passion and your imagination. Regardless of what you do, remember to take time each year to remind yourself of how grateful you are for your significant other.
