There is always somebody here.
pickin' and a grinnin'.
the guitar is a yamaha sg .. one of the first guitars to come out of japan in the mid 70's that wasn't a direct copy of somethin that gibson or fender did before them .. up till that time all these japanese guitars were copies of somethin else .. some of their copies were pretty good tho which brought about lawsuits and a shitload of litigation to make em stop copyin les pauls and sg's .. and this is their first attempt to be creative .. well not this particular model exactly .. this one has whats called soapbar pickups cause they .. look like a soapbar .. they were also called by their real name .. p90's .. i have no idea what the p90 stands for but thats the real name .. soapbars is just their nickname . and this is the first yamaha sg ( which they later had to change to sbg cause gibson started whinin they had the sg name first .. which they did ) that has p90's .. and the thing thats funny is i've owned about 3 yamaha sg's over the years and one of em i've changed the pickups on it a half a dozen times cause sometimes i'm lookin for that tone .. you can hear it in your head but its not commin out of the amp .. and the last time i changed the pickups i put p90's on it .. that was about eh.. 8 or 10 years ago .. its good to see that yamaha is finally catchin up with me .. i knew they would sooner or later .. but it didn't cost me 4 grand to do it myself .. thats what this goldtop costs .. mines not a goldtop tho either .. mine is a nice tobacco burst which is kinda like an ice tea burst but the edges are a bit darker .. more of an indian red .. not black .. and i put a bigsby tremolo bar on it too .. i'd put up a pic but then i'd have to start a whole new post cause you only get one pic per post ..
Go ahead and start a new post. Would love to see the guitar.
