I chose to go to nursing school after my divorce and raising my two children. Even though I had a good paying 8-5 job, I thought "well, it's now or never". It has been quite a challenge, many joys in my hospice nursing, but after the employer shut the unit down and I bounced around for a few years (and adjusted to menopause), I feel numb to the profession -- not to mention I am an ADN mandatorily working towards a BSN (6 years later and 1 class to go). Taking care of frail parents, working fulltime, providing emotional support to children and grandchildren -- is there anyone out there going through anything like this???
