One of the most frequent requests we received from members was to have the ability to include images and embed videos in comments and to format comments (especially with paragraph breaks). We are happy to announce that we've done just that! Here are some tutorials to help you get started using this new feature.
A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Adding Images to Comments
If you already know how to add images to discussions and blog posts that you start, the process is exactly the same. You can skip this tutorial! For everyone else, here are the steps:
Step 1: Click the Upload Image button.
Step 2: This opens a pop-up window. From here click the Add New Image button. A grey placeholder image will appear with a Browse button below.
Step 3: Browse to the image you wish to upload. After selecting your images, scroll to the bottom of the pop-up window and click Save.
Step 4: You should now see your image - yay! You will also notice now that there is a unique URL to your image. This is the URL that will use to insert your image into blog posts and discussions.
Step 5: Copy this URL by highlighting the URL text and either right-clicking and selecting Copy OR holding CTRL and typing C on your keyboard. Now this URL is saved to your clipboard.
Step 6: Close this window by clicking the X in the top right corner.
Step 7: In the Comments box, place your cursor where you want your image to appear, then click the Image icon in the toolbar (it's the last icon and looks like a small mountain). This will open a pop-up window with a field for Source. Paste your URL in this field. You can do this by either right-clicking and selecting Paste OR holding CTRL and typing V on your keyboard. Click OK.
That's it! Your image should now be inserted in your comment.
We also created an infographic explaining these steps. Find it here: How to add images to your blog posts and discussions
Videos Might Be Worth A Million: How to Embed a Video into Comments
Step 1: Go to the video you want to share on YouTube.
Step 2: Click Share and then Embed.
Step 3: Copy the HTML code that appears in the field (looks something like <iframe width="560"...). Do this by highlighting the HTML code and either right-clicking and selecting Copy OR holding CTRL and typing C on your keyboard.
Step 4: Go to the Comments box on Boomeon and click the icon that looks like a chain link (second to last icon in the comments toolbar). A pop-up will appear. Paste the HTML code into the URL field. You can do this by either right-clicking and selecting Paste OR holding CTRL and typing V on your keyboard. Click OK.
That's it! Your video embed will show when you submit your comment.
