Actor Ernest Borgnine was born in 1917. Ernest Borgnine was an American film and television actor whose career spanned more than six decades. He was an unconventional lead in many films of the 1950s, winning an Oscar in 1955 for Marty. I remember him in McHale’s Navy which ran from 1962 – 1966. Borgnine died in 2012 at the age of 95.

His career began in the 1960s and his biggest hits include Sweet Caroline and America. He was inducted into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
In 1949 actor, musician, and comedian John Belushi was born. He is best known as one of the original cast members of the hit NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. He was a “Blues Brother” along with Dan Akroyd and starred in Animal House. Belushi died of a drug overdose at age 33 in 1982.
Japanese Sgt. Shoichi Yokoi was found in 1972, hiding in a Guam jungle, where he had been since the end of World War II. He never knew the war was over. He returned to Japan where he received $300 in back pay and a small pension.
Apple Computer and Steve Jobs unveiled the Macintosh personal computer in 1984. This was the first mass-market personal computer featuring a graphical user interface and mouse. It also featured 128k of RAM. I bought my first Mac in 1986 and have been a Mac fan ever since. Most people remember the Super Bowl ad that year.
Larry Moskal began his career as a Social Studies teacher in 1971. He graduated from the University of Buffalo with degrees in history and education. Larry taught Social Studies for the Ken-Ton School system, a suburban school system north of Buffalo, New York until 2005, and then taught and was the Dean of Students at San Miguel High School in Tucson. At Ken-Ton, he pioneered several online courses for high school students. In the 1980s, he spent three years teaching in Colombia, South America and spent four years at Lewiston-Porter High School. He currently is the PowerSchool Administrator for San Miguel accomplishing his work over the Internet.
